Over the past few years, this column has covered the pressing issue of homeless veterans in Maine — a challenge that continues to demand our attention and compassion. While the numbers vary from day to day, estimates suggest that approximately 145 veterans in Maine are currently without stable housing. Of those, about 15 are completely unsheltered — living in cars, tents, or on the street. And these figures may not capture the full picture.
