American fined after airport drug arrest

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) has confirmed that a United States citizen has been fined following the discovery of a controlled substance in his possession at the Hewanorra International Airport on Saturday. Michael Gary Charlemagne, 45, was fined $6 000, to be paid by Thursday, for offences related to having less than $2 000 worth of cannabis. If he does not pay up, he will spend three months in prison.
