Zoox and Uber Tie up to Deploy Robotaxis on Ride-Hailing Network
Zoox’s driverless robotaxis will be accessible via Uber in Las Vegas this summer, marking its first third-party app partnership and part of a multi-year plan including Los Angeles.
- On March 11, 2026, Amazon-owned Zoox and Uber announced a multiyear strategic partnership to deploy Zoox robotaxis on Uber in Las Vegas later this year, marking Zoox's first third-party ride-hailing deal.
- The company has run free demos since last fall to build familiarity, plans to expand sites and start charging fares this year, and is seeking exemptions from eight FMVSS with NHTSA opening public comments.
- The vehicles are four‑seat, steering‑wheel‑free pods with inward‑facing seats, phone chargers, temperature and music controls, operating mainly on the Las Vegas Strip including Resorts World, Topgolf, New York‑New York, and Area 15, with dedicated ride zones at T‑Mobile Arena and Sphere.
- At launch, Uber riders will be able to match with Zoox vehicles on eligible trips while Uber aims to offer driverless rides in 15 cities by the end of 2026; Uber investors cheered, sending shares up 4.1%, and Amazon’s stock rose less than 1%.
- Uber argues AVs on its app see higher utilization, about 30% more trips per vehicle, vs. Waymo's six U.S. cities with about 400,000 weekly rides, and plans to expand to Los Angeles next year.
