Amazon's 'Biggest Ever' Fire TV Stick Update Boasts 30% Faster Performance, New Ways to Find a Favourite Show
Amazon unveiled the Fire TV Stick HD on Wednesday, a $35 streaming device designed to plug directly into a TV's USB port for power. The new stick is the company's slimmest model to date.
Optimized for "Direct Power," the stick plugs directly into a TV's USB port, eliminating the need for bulky wall adapters. This design makes it easier to fit behind any TV without wires cluttering the space.
Amazon claims the stick is "more than 30% faster on average" than the previous generation, while including updated Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. These upgrades make apps load quicker and improve overall streaming performance.
An "Adaptive Display" accessibility feature will launch in the coming weeks to enlarge text and menus for easier viewing. The device also integrates Alexa+ for personalized content recommendations to Prime subscribers.
Preorders begin today with shipping scheduled for April 29 across the U.S., Canada, and other regions. Separately, Amazon announced the $900 Ember Artline TV, which ships April 22 in the U.S. and Canada.
