First Electric Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 Revealed with 500kW, Confirmed for Australia
The performance sedan uses a 94kWh battery and a three-motor all-wheel-drive system, with Mercedes-Benz Australia confirming local sales in 2027.
- The all-electric 2026 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4Matic+ has been unveiled globally in four-door sedan and Shooting Brake body styles, featuring a three-motor all-wheel drive powertrain producing 500kW.
- Boasting a 3.0-second 0-100km/h time, the new CLA 45 uses advanced axial-flux technology for its three electric motors housed in a 'sandwich' layout, producing 500kW and 1759Nm.
- Larger than its predecessor, the fresh CLA measures 4742mm long and features an AMG-specific chassis tune. To mimic an internal combustion engine, the car uses 'original combustion sound' with gear shift 'interruptions' and seat shakers to 'deliver authentic vibrations'.
- Charging at up to 330kW DC enables a 10 to 80 per cent recharge in 22 minutes, while the sedan offers a claimed 640km range. The model could cost around $129,900, mirroring previous petrol-powered equivalents.
- Mercedes-Benz Australia confirmed the CLA 45 sedan will arrive in local showrooms in 2027, though precise release timing and pricing remain unconfirmed. Production of the third-generation Mercedes-Benz small car begins later this year, with the Shooting Brake under consideration.
