All holidays cancelled as major UK travel company collapses after 30 years
Gold Crest Holidays cited COVID-19, partner changes, and rising costs for closure; ABTA manages refunds for cancelled packages after 30+ years in business.
On January 23, 2026, Gold Crest Holidays, Ilkley, West Yorkshire ceased trading with immediate effect and entered voluntary liquidation after more than 30 years.
Citing the company's website, the directors attributed the collapse to the COVID-19 pandemic's impact, key partner arrangement changes, and rising costs, which affected trading.
The trade body confirmed ABTA will handle refunds, advising customers to have booking references and proof of payment; claims must be submitted within six months and take six to eight weeks to process.
Customers who booked packages now face revising travel arrangements and making alternative plans after cancellations, while the collapse affects travel agents, suppliers, and company staff, who received the company’s gratitude and apology.
The family-run operator was known for coach trips to Disneyland Paris, European city breaks and sporting events, and also traded as Advent, Advent Tours and Overseas Dream Weddings with strong Trustpilot ratings.
