Alcalá University Researches in South America

The scientific community has taken another step in research on the past. A team has discovered the first amber deposit of Mesozoic with preserved insects from all over South America in Napo, a province of Ecuador. It belongs to the lower Cretaceous albienese period, that is, it is about 112 million years old. Amber was found in a riveric and lake environment in the Genoveva site, in the Amazon region of the Ecuadorian region of Tena.
