Alberta's Unemployment Rate Rises to 8.4% in August, Second Highest in the Country

Statistics Canada released its national labor market survey report for August on September 5. The report showed that Alberta's unemployment rate rose to 8.4%, the second-highest in the country, behind only Newfoundland and Labrador (10.7%). It was also the highest level since August 2017 (excluding the three-year pandemic period).
