Kingfisher CEO Thierry Garnier to Step Down, Join Ahold as Chief
Thierry Garnier will leave Kingfisher after nearly seven years and take over Ahold Delhaize as it prepares for a leadership change in 2027.
Thierry Garnier, chief executive of Kingfisher, will step down after nearly seven years to lead Netherlands-headquartered Ahold Delhaize, with the transition planned for 2027.
Joining Kingfisher in 2019, Garnier navigated the group through Covid-19 and launched the Powered by Kingfisher strategy following the tenure of Veronique Laury, who had led a lengthy overhaul.
Kingfisher stated Garnier has a 12-month notice period and will continue in his role while the company actively seeks a successor to ensure a smooth transition.
Ahold Delhaize expects Garnier to replace Frans Muller around its annual general meeting in April 2027, with Wiebe Draijer, chair of the supervisory board, citing his retail and digital transformation expertise.
Garnier oversaw brands across Europe including Brico Depot, Castorama, and Screwfix, which Kingfisher continues to operate as part of its home improvement portfolio.
