Air quality alert in place for Northern Michigan Tuesday

NORTHERN MICHIGAN, AUG 5 – The alert advises vulnerable residents to limit outdoor activities due to poor air quality caused by pollution, affecting 24 counties in Northern Michigan, officials said.

On Monday at 3:01 p.m. EDT the National Weather Service reported an air quality alert in effect until Tuesday at 11:45 p.m. EDT for Emmet, Cheboygan, Presque Isle, Leelanau, Antrim, Otsego, Montmorency, Alpena, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Crawford, Oscoda, Alcona, Manistee, Wexford, Missaukee, Roscommon, Ogemaw, Iosco, Gladwin, Arenac, Chippewa, Mackinac and Charlevoix counties.
