Service in the U.S. military is a longstanding tradition in Charlis Carroll’s family. Her great-great-great grandfather served in George Washington’s army during the American Revolution. His son served during the War of 1812. Several of her ancestors fought in the U.S. Civil War. Joining the service was almost never in doubt for her. It was more like destiny.
