Air Canada announces major Billy Bishop expansion in Toronto with new U.S. routes
- On Oct. 23, 2025, Air Canada, Canada's largest airline, unveiled a major expansion at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport with 10 daily return flights to four U.S. cities starting spring 2026.
- U.S. Customs Pre‑Clearance at Billy Bishop enabled transborder flights, targeting business travellers and increasing competition with Porter Airlines at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.
- Air Canada Express, operated by Jazz Aviation LP, will use 78-seat De Havilland Dash 8-400s for LaGuardia four returns from March 29, Chicago two and Washington one from June 1, and Boston three from July 1, 2026.
- Beginning January 2026, Air Canada will increase Toronto Island–Montréal to nine daily return flights and Ottawa to six, while this month passengers gained fast, free onboard Wi‑Fi plus complimentary premium snacks, beer and wine.
- Mark Galardo, Air Canada Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, said the expansion complements Toronto Pearson’s more than 600 flights to over 120 destinations next summer and is the most significant at Toronto Island in 35 years.
