QUEBEC, CANADA, AUG 5 – More than 10,000 flight attendants are voting amid unresolved contract issues including pay, unpaid work, and pensions after failed conciliation efforts, union said.
- On August 5, 2025, Air Canada flight attendants are entering the final day of voting on a strike mandate, which began July 28 and ends at 2 p.m. eastern.
- On July 25 the Canadian Union of Public Employees Air Canada unit called for a strike vote after conciliation ended without a deal, and talks failed to resolve key issues.
- The Canadian Union of Public Employees represents 10,000 Air Canada flight attendants, who perform unpaid duties before, during, and after flights, amid ongoing contract talks.
- Even if the union issues a strong strike mandate, Air Canada says a strike cannot start until after a 21-day cooling-off period following the 60-day conciliation.
