Marcelo questioned the immigration data and exposed the accounts to responsible entities. INE complains to be waiting for AIMA numbers since February. No one knows how many immigrants there are in Portugal.

“Be aware of the sense of who is the AIMA, and not the INE”, the President of the Republic commented on the purpose of the statistics on immigrants to reside in Portugal. The National Institute of Statistics explains that it is the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum that is missing when not sending the data to the Institute in good time – and that it should not disclose them without having been worked before.
