Marcelo Questions the Number of Immigrants in Portugal

The President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, questioned the differences between the government's immigrant figures and those of the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

“Be aware of the sense of who is the AIMA, and not the INE”, the President of the Republic commented on the purpose of the statistics on immigrants to reside in Portugal. The National Institute of Statistics explains that it is the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum that is missing when not sending the data to the Institute in good time – and that it should not disclose them without having been worked before.
