India's Modi Woos Youth with Free Coaching, AI Training

On Saturday, India's 80th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced free online coaching for competitive exams and committed to training 10 million youth in artificial intelligence skills over the next year.
Recent nationwide protests regarding recruitment scandals and paper leaks triggered the move, exposing deep frustration over educational opportunities and contributing to Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation last month.
Modi stated the free coaching aims to ease the financial burden on "poor and middle-class families," as students often spend years in India's fiercely competitive private coaching industry at enormous cost.
Linking these measures to his vision for a developed "Viksit Bharat" by 2047, Modi emphasized equipping youth with skills to compete in a rapidly changing global economy.
To foster innovation, the government plans to establish over 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs, while Modi urged youth to participate in the upcoming Census exercise and assume leadership in nation-building.
