Organic farming in France experienced an unprecedented decline in 2025. The number of producers decreased by 0.6%, i.e. 386 fewer farms. Despite a recovery in consumption, the sector remained under pressure.
The number of producers engaged in organic farming fell for the first time in 2025, according to the first estimates of the Bio Agency, when consumption rebounded sharply, which is worrying as to the number of organic farmers involved in organic farming.
The Bio Agency announced on Thursday 26 February at the Agricultural Fair a first decrease in the number of organic farms in 2025, with 386 farms less. This decline occurs paradoxically while the consumption of organic products starts again with an increase of 3.5% this year.
