The Ministry of Defense of Bolivia raised to six the number of people killed after the two explosions recorded on Friday afternoon in a military unit in the city of Viacha, located 30 kilometers south-west of La Paz and with a population greater than 100,000 inhabitants. The update occurred after the rescue teams located three new bodies in the rubble.
It was reported that the Mayor of Viacha carries out structural assessments to determine which properties can be inhabited and which should maintain income restrictions.
“We are screwed,” said the Mayor of Viacha, Jenrry Patzi Mercado, this Friday, confirming, in a preliminary manner, that the explosions recorded in the Artillery Regiment 2 “Bolivar” left more than 70 injured and people dead, while questioning the limitations of the municipality’s second-level hospital to deal with the emergency.
