Tigers on Course to Maul Afghanistan in Test
Litton Das scored 102 and Bangladesh declared on 372-7 after a 149-run stand with Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
On Monday at Zayed Cricket Stadium, wicket-keeper batsman Litton Das struck a century as Bangladesh declared their second innings at 372-7, setting Afghanistan a 479-run target in the one-off Test.
Resuming at 223-6, Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz built a crucial 149-run partnership for the seventh wicket, with Miraz remaining unbeaten on 52 to help Bangladesh secure a 106-run lead from their first innings.
Bangladesh seamer Ebadot Hossain struck immediately in Afghanistan's chase, dismissing opener Abdul Malik for two in the second over, leaving the visitors struggling at 28-2 against the bowling attack.
Captain Rahmat Shah scored 51 before Hossain had him caught behind by Das, but Sediqullah Atal and Hashmatullah Shahidi steadied the innings to reach 132-3 at stumps, still requiring 347 runs for victory.
Setting a new Bangladesh record with eight dismissals behind the stumps, Litton leads the team's defense as they need seven wickets to secure victory on the final day.
