Adani Defence delivers 2000 Prahar light machine guns to Indian military
Adani Defence completed delivery 11 months early by rapidly advancing production milestones, supporting local MSMEs and boosting India’s defence manufacturing self-reliance.
- On Saturday, Adani Defence & Aerospace delivered 2,000 indigenously manufactured Prahar Light Machine Guns to the Indian Army, marking a significant milestone in reducing reliance on imported infantry weapons.
- Produced at the Adani Defence Small Arms Facility in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, the weapons were manufactured across 100 acres and delivered 11 months ahead of the contracted schedule.
- Designed for scale, the weapons feature 7.62mm calibre and 8 kg weight, with more than 90 per cent domestic sourcing and advanced robotics and CNC machining integration.
- A. Anbarasu, DG Acquisition & Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defence, attended the ceremony, highlighting the facility's contribution to generating skilled employment and supporting local MSMEs.
- The Gwalior facility will soon manufacture close-quarter battle weapons for the Indian Armed Forces, complementing the ammunition complex in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, to strengthen national defence self-reliance.
