Shia LaBeouf pleads guilty to simple battery for punching bargoers during Mardi Gras
LaBeouf received a suspended sentence and probation after prosecutors said he struck two men and a staff member during the altercation.
Actor Shia LaBeouf pleaded guilty Wednesday to three counts of simple battery following a Feb. Mardi Gras altercation at a New Orleans bar.
Police records allege the 39-year-old actor became combative with staff, shoving one individual to the ground and punching another, causing his nose to possibly dislocate.
LaBeouf received a six-month suspended sentence and two years of active probation, with court-ordered anger management and sensitivity training.
Defense attorney Sarah Chervinsky said the investigation proved it was a "Mardi Gras bar tussle," noting LaBeouf "came to court wanting to take accountability, and he has done so."
Victim representative Michael Kennedy stated he hopes mandatory treatment is "taken seriously," adding that in New Orleans, "we don't treat people different based upon relative fame.
