Canadian Flotilla Activists Released From Israeli Detention Share Their Experiences
Six Canadian activists were detained nearly eight days after Israeli forces intercepted their Gaza aid flotilla in international waters, authorities said.
- On Oct. 8, 145 activists including Ontario residents Khurram Musti Khan and Mskwaasin Agnew were removed from international waters and brought ashore by Israeli military forces for processing.
- The Freedom Flotilla Coalition has organized maritime aid since 2010, with the Canadian Boat to Gaza aiming to deliver humanitarian aid and breach Israel's naval blockade.
- Witnesses described zip-tying, blindfolding, and denial of water, while Israeli forces boarded within 15 minutes using helicopters, naval boats, a plane, and drones, spending about 15 hours on board before custody.
- Back home, the Canadians said they are relieved but still processing the detention, while Israel's Foreign Ministry denied mistreatment claims as `brazen lies` and said soldiers treated detainees well.
- Agnew's description of prison conditions as `pretty horrific` amplifies humanitarian concerns, while Musti Khan called the interception `a major operation`; The Canadian Press report was published Oct. 14, 2025.
