The Controversy Surrounding Gayton McKenzie: Racial Slurs and Political Accountability

SOUTH AFRICA, AUG 11 – ActionSA filed a complaint citing at least six racist tweets by Minister McKenzie from 2011 to 2017 that use apartheid-era slurs degrading black South Africans.

Gayton McKenzie has offered a back-handed apology over his old tweets, in which he repeatedly used racial slurs, including the K-word.  The Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture – who is also the leader of the Patriotic Alliance – has claimed that he is “not guilty of racism”.
