Aces' Chelsea Gray building Hall of Fame resume by reaching a major milestone
Gray became one of four WNBA players to reach 2,000 assists and 4,500 points while finishing with 12 points and nine assists.
Las Vegas Aces guard Chelsea Gray reached the 2,000-assist threshold in the team's 99-84 victory over Dallas, becoming one of four players in WNBA history to combine that total with 4,500 career points.
Gray reached the 4,500-point and 2,000-assist marks in 387 games, ranking behind only Sue Bird's 367 games; among active players, her 2,003 assists trail only Courtney Vandersloot's 2,886.
Aces coach Becky Hammon called Gray's impact "really special and, in a way, generational," while Gray recorded 12 points and nine assists with a game-high plus-19 rating in the win.
Gray brushed off a fourth-quarter turnover pass to teammate Cheyenne Parker-Tyus, saying, "See, that turnover needs to go in your column," while emphasizing her focus on building team chemistry.
At 33, Gray chases her fifth championship while building her case for the Naismith Basketball Hall, joining elite company with Sue Bird, Lindsay Whalen, and Diana Taurasi in WNBA history.
