A motorbike struck a pedestrian while crossing the road on a pedestrian bridge at Place d'Armes in Port-Louis on Tuesday, August 26. The victim, a 60-year-old resident of Vallée-Pitot, was seriously injured in the head and admitted to a neurological care unit at Dr. A. G. Jeetoo Hospital. The alcohol test on the motorcyclist, a resident of Pailles, was found to be negative. An investigation is under way.
