Abducted Zimbabwe opposition activist Tapfumaneyi Masaya found dead
Tapfumaneyi Masaya, an opposition activist in Zimbabwe, was abducted and later found dead. His wife identified the body as her husband's.
Masaya's abduction is part of a series of kidnappings targeting opposition and human rights activists, with an increase in abductions since the disputed 2021 general elections. Opposition parties blame government security agents for the abductions.
The abductions are seen as a way to silence opposition voices, as well as a means to tarnish the image of the government. The ruling party, Zanu-PF, denies responsibility and accuses aggrieved members of the Citizens Coalition for Change of orchestrating the abductions.
