Southwest Louisiana man cited for illegally shooting black bear near state park

Shannon R. Parker, 50, of Abbeville, for taking a bear during a closed season. He told agents he thought it was a wild boar when he shot it near Palmetto State Park. Agents he failed to have permission to hunt on property at night and failed to notify the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office of his intention to attempt to take wild hogs at night.
