Maribor police were notified of water pollution and fish deaths in the Rače area in early August. After completing the investigation, they determined that the water pollution and subsequent fish deaths were caused by the spillage of manure into a field near a water source. The damage was estimated at around 8,000 euros. Criminal investigators have already filed criminal charges against the suspect.
The crime of encroachment and destruction of the environment carries a prison sentence of up to eight years.
