The draw allocates 48 teams into 12 groups with a new knockout round of 32, aiming to expand global participation and includes eight best third-place teams advancing.
- On Friday the World Cup draw will air at noon EST on Fox and will determine Argentina national team’s path and challenges for the United States men's national team.
- As the field expanded to 48 teams, only 42 of the 48 spots are clinched, with 22 of the 64 teams heading to playoffs to decide the final six berths.
- At the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, celebrities will appear on the red carpet, including Tom Brady, Shaquille O'Neal, Aaron Judge, Wayne Gretzky, Samantha Johnson, Eli Manning, Heidi Klum, Kevin Hart and the Village People.
- Host cities including Inglewood, Vancouver, Santa Clara and Seattle will stage Group D matches, while additional group games head to Houston, Kansas City, Mo. and Arlington, Texas, mostly at NFL stadiums.
- On June 11 and June 12, co-hosts Mexico and Canada will begin their group play, with the tournament including 104 games from June 11 through July 19, FIFA organizers say.
