Since June 2024, the European Commission has already deducted €600 million from EU funds due to Hungary following a court ruling that found the country's legal system did not comply with EU rules on asylum seekers. The Hungarian government has not responded to payment requests, so late payment interest is also due, currently at 5.5 percent.
All this because the Orbán government refuses to implement the court ruling regarding asylum seekers.
