A mass accident that caused several injuries closed the D56 highway between Ostrava and Frýdek-Místek in both directions on Thursday morning. Traffic jams are forming around the crash.
Thursday's tragic accident near Ostrava was caused by an overloaded truck carrying logs. The vehicle apparently had a flat tire, crashed into a van driving alongside it and into a guardrail. The load partially spilled into the oncoming traffic.
Traffic on the D56 motorway near Ostrava has been complicated since morning by a serious accident near Paskov. Five people were injured, one patient is in critical condition. The motorway had to be closed in both directions due to wood spilled from a truck, but shortly before nine in the morning traffic was restored in one lane in the direction of Frýdek-Místek.
