In May of this year, a Kaohsiung loan shark named Jiang, coveting the wealth of a businessman named Lin, orchestrated a scheme to kidnap the family of three. They handcuffed and shackled them, sealed their eyes and mouths with tape, and demanded a ransom of NT$100 million. Jiang only released the suspects after receiving NT$11.4 million in cash. Police tracked down the three accomplices, but Jiang fled to Vietnam with NT$6 million.
