Rockstar Games May Have Let a Terminally Ill Fan Test GTA VI Before Planned 2026 Release
Take-Two Interactive's CEO contacted Rockstar after a LinkedIn plea to let a terminally ill fan playtest GTA VI before its November release.
- In December, Ubisoft Toronto developer Anthony Armstrong pleaded on LinkedIn for Rockstar Games to allow a terminally ill family member to playtest GTA VI, offering to sign an NDA.
- After multiple delays, Rockstar Games announced GTA VI will release later this year, now scheduled for Nov. 19, over 13 years after Grand Theft Auto V's 2013 debut.
- Armstrong updated the LinkedIn post twice before deleting it, and fans flooded the comments with wholesome memes as the Grand Theft Auto franchise has enjoyed soaring popularity since 1997.
- A few weeks after the post, Armstrong said Take-Two's CEO reached out and wrote `We are just waiting to hear from the Rockstar team to discuss this further`, but it's unclear if the fan was able to playtest.
- GTA V continues to attract players with a 24-hour peak of 84,391 users, while GTA VI's Miami-inspired Vice City features main characters Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos.
