The two-part film, directed by Tomáš Mašín, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Alice Nellis and Ondřej Gabriel, is inspired by Kateřina Tučková's novel The Expulsion of Gerta Schnirch. It follows the fate of a woman growing up in a mixed Czech-German family, whose life is tragically marked by Nazism, post-war violence and collective guilt.
