2 facing 80 charges in relation to $7.8M real estate Ponzi scheme in Alberta, B.C.

  • Two individuals have been charged with over 80 counts of fraud in connection with a $7.8 million Ponzi scheme that targeted victims in Edmonton, B.C., the U.S., and Australia. The scheme involved offering securities in the form of promissory notes, presenting them as real estate investments.
  • The suspects, Curtis Gordon Quigley and Kathleen Treadgold, turned themselves in to the Edmonton Police Service. They are also charged with one count of laundering proceeds of crime.
  • Investigators suspect that there may be more victims who have not yet come forward, and they are urging the public to exercise caution when considering investment opportunities. Legitimate investments should have proper verification and individuals should research companies and sellers before making any investments.
