80 Years of Brno Death March: "All Germans Had to Leave"

BR NN. Heuer j hrs the so-called Brno Death March for the 80th time. It marks the bloody point of expulsion of the German-speaking inhabitants of B hmen and Mhrens after the end of the Second World War.

On the night of May 30-31, 1945, almost twenty thousand German residents were expelled from Brno. Their displacement, including other fates, still arouses speculation and controversy about the causes and course of the event. According to domestic researchers, almost seventeen hundred people died during the march towards Austria, which is sometimes called the "Brno death march", and according to Sudeten German researchers, even ten thousand.
