- Inspection teams working quietly over the weekend reported about 63 scholar transport services failed in Pietermaritzburg; Diale Tlabela said, `All scholar transport vehicles must have a valid licence disc, a roadworthy certificate and proper seating with seatbelts.`
- Parents were urged not to pay for unsafe transport and to report illegal operators, while motorists were reminded to be extra careful near schools during morning and afternoon peak hours.
- The work began quietly on Friday and Transport Minister Siboniso Duma said he was pleased with the inspection efforts.
