German factory orders drop in new blow to Merz
German industrial new orders fell 0.8% in August, marking a fourth consecutive decline mainly due to weak overseas demand and a 6.4% drop in the automotive sector, Destatis reported.

The German companies produced less in August than last. Industry, construction and energy suppliers together produced 4.3 percent less than in July, according to the Federal Statistical Office. This is the largest decline since March 2022 - i.e. the start of the Russian attack on Ukraine.
