SkyFall Tests StarGate Medical Evacuation Drone on Ukraine Front Line

The prototype can carry a wounded soldier on a stretcher and uses Starlink, L-Link and AI to navigate when GPS is jammed.

  • Ukrainian manufacturer SkyFall began front-line testing of its StarGate medical evacuation drone on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2026, designed to retrieve wounded soldiers from hazardous battlefield locations.
  • Last year, Flint, commander of the 475th Separate Assault Regiment known as Code 9.2, approached SkyFall's founder requesting a safer evacuation method because ground vehicles struggle through mud, craters and enemy drones.
  • StarGate carries a 330-pound payload at speeds up to 105 kph, utilizing Starlink and L-Link communication systems to navigate GPS-denied environments while operating in rain and snow.
  • KVN, a commander with Code 9.2, said it is "too early to judge" the drone's success rate, noting his unit needs at least a month of combat experience to evaluate performance.
  • SkyFall estimates each system will cost at least $50,000 and aims to produce up to 1,000 units monthly by the end of 2026, potentially transforming how wounded troops are evacuated.
