Master pianist Yeşim Gökalp, who lived in the Bodrum district of Muğla, was found unconscious in her home after her students were unable to reach her. Gökalp, who died at the age of 59, was one of Turkey's leading classical musicians. She began her musical education by entering a conservatory at age 8, received specialized training in Germany, and was performing as a soloist with the Izmir State Symphony Orchestra.
State Artist and pianist Yeşim Gökalp, 59, was found dead in her Bodrum home. According to her wishes, she will be buried next to her mother in Ankara. The cause of death will be determined after a forensic examination.
