Fox News apologizes to family of fallen Marine for false story
- Fox News issued an apology to the Gee family, a Gold Star family, for publishing a false story claiming they had to pay $60,000 to ship their fallen relative's remains from Afghanistan because the Pentagon refused to pay.
- The apology came after a Military.com report revealed that senior members of the Marine Corps had notified Fox News executives that the story was false. Marine Corps spokesman Major James Stenger privately accused the outlet of capitalizing on the Marine's death for "cheap clickbait points."
