Hamas armed wing says it will hand over body of deceased hostage on Monday

  • The Al-Qassam Brigades announced on Monday that one more hostage's remains will be handed to the Red Cross then transferred to the Israel Defense Forces for identification.
  • The deal signed two weeks ago aimed to bring out 48 hostages, but only 35 have been released so far as Hamas said recovering all is difficult given Israel controls more than half of Gaza.
  • Reports indicate access disputes: Israeli authorities permitted Egyptian heavy machinery, but defense officials refused Hamas representatives to cross the Yellow Line, Saudi network Al-Sharq reported that Hamas began recovering between seven and nine hostages.
  • The proposed international force aims to help enforce the ceasefire, but Israeli foreign minister Gideon Saar says Israel rejects Turkish armed forces joining under US President Donald Trump's plan.
  • Aid shortfalls, measured against a 600-truck requirement, fuel tension as Hamas chief Khalil al-Hayya accused Israel of delaying aid under the guise of hostage retrieval; he added `Gaza needs 6,000 daily, not 600`.
