The Alberton School Board is asking the community to raise taxes for operational expenses for the district, which would cost taxpayers nearly $48,000 a year, weeks after making cuts to music and STEM teachers to save money.

BG School District will make drastic cuts if income tax levy doesn’t pass in May

The Bowling Green City Schools’ Board of Education has placed a 0.75% traditional school district income tax levy on the ballot for May 6. If the levy does not pass, BG Schools will have to cut programs, staffing positions and reduce transportation. The levy is estimated to generate approximately $6,684,000 per year for five years.
