40 years as a general practitioner in one of the most unhealthy neighborhoods in the Netherlands, now Jan Galesloot is quitting

He grew up in rural Ede, did ‘medical development aid’ in the tropics with his wife and children, and then built up a general practice in Hillesluis; certainly a less than flourishing district in Rotterdam at the time. “I became quite demotivated,” says Jan Galesloot about the early years. The general practitioner is now leaving with a heavy heart, his thousands of patients are watching with dismay.
