A Kyodo News survey on the 20th revealed that 33 of the 39 prefectures facing the sea and at risk of tsunamis from earthquakes in the Nankai Trough, Japan Trench, and Kuril Trench have established rules for police officers to evacuate from tsunamis. The remaining 6 prefectures are also considering formulating such rules.
