Gaza Children Arrive in Bay Area for Critical Care
BAY AREA, CALIFORNIA, AUG 7 – HEAL Palestine has evacuated 37 children since January 2024 for free specialized treatment at Bay Area hospitals amid Gaza's critical medical crisis.
- This week, three children injured during the war in Gaza arrived at San Francisco International Airport, as part of HEAL Palestine’s medical evacuation, for critical treatment in the Bay Area.
- According to UNICEF, more than 50,000 children have died and roughly 1 million face severe risk from lack of supplies in Gaza's crisis.
- Leyan, 14-year-old patient, burned by shrapnel at her school will be treated at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, while Ghazal, 6, and Anas, 8, head to South Bay and Oakland hospitals respectively.
- Upon arrival, hospitals in Oakland and San Jose will provide free treatment for the children, and host families and volunteers will support their other needs, at the San Francisco International Airport cultural welcome.
- Since January 2024, HEAL Palestine has evacuated 37 children, including one who waited since November last year for a visa.
