Minimum wages have increased across the European Union for 2025, with most countries implementing substantial hikes that outpace inflation. The trend suggests that the EU’s Minimum Wage Directive is beginning to shape wage-setting policies, alongside moderating inflation. Twenty-two EU member states with statutory minimum wages have announced their new rates, with Spain's decision still pending.

The Government has taken the decision, with the approval of the trade unions, but not of the employers, to increase the minimum interprofessional wage (SMI) to 2025 by 50 euros, which increases its amount by 4,41 per cent, to 1,184 euros gross monthly distributed in 14 payments (16,576 euros per year).
