2 Cases of Disease From Bacteria in Water Systems Linked to Las Vegas Strip Hotel
Environmental sampling found Legionella in the resort’s water systems, and Wynn Las Vegas began remediation and guest notifications, officials said.
On Tuesday, April 28, the Southern Nevada Health District announced it is investigating two travel-associated Legionnaires' disease cases linked to stays at Wynn Las Vegas, with both individuals having since recovered.
Following the reports, the Health District conducted environmental sampling and found multiple samples positive for Legionella bacteria, prompting Wynn Las Vegas to initiate immediate water system remediation.
The Health District is strongly urging anyone who stayed at the property on or after September 1, 2025, to complete a confidential illness survey, as the resort has launched a guest notification system.
Legionnaires' disease symptoms typically appear within two to 10 days post-exposure, including cough and fever; health officials advise those experiencing symptoms to seek medical attention, particularly for individuals aged 50 or older.
Ongoing testing conducted in coordination with the SNHD confirms there is no current risk to guests, and the hotel has implemented a comprehensive water management safety plan to prevent recurrence.
