PINCKNEYVILLE, Ill., (KBSI) — An accident at a southern Illinois coal mine injured two people, who were flown to a hospital for treatment. The incident occurred Monday night at the Knight Hawk Prairie Eagle Coal Mine, located near the Perry-Randolph County line. Two people were transported by helicopter to a regional hospital. Two Airlifted after Mine Collapse at Knight Hawk Coal in Percy

PERCY – Two people were airlifted following a mine collapse Monday night at Knight Hawk Coal in Percy according to the Pinckneyville Ambulance Service. One was flown to a St. Louis hospital while the other was flown to Carbondale. It’s not known at this time what caused the collapse. Perry County Ambulance along with the Perry County Sheriff’s Office and Washington County Ambulance all responded to assist.
