Brewers’ Hoskins Reinstated After Thumb Injury, Says He’s Ready to Accept Limited Role

On Tuesday the Milwaukee Brewers activated Rhys Hoskins, reinstating him after missing 57 games with a left-thumb UCL sprain since July 5.
Hoskins' July 5 thumb injury in Miami led to a Minor League rehab assignment where he hit.275/.371/.471 in 62 plate appearances over 14 games, clearing him to return.
The move adds depth at first base as Rhys Hoskins joins Andrew Vaughn, first baseman, and Jake Bauers, left-handed-hitting first-base option, while Carlos Rodriguez and Anthony Seigler are optioned to Triple-A Nashville and Chad Patrick is recalled.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Vaughn will get the majority of first-base at-bats, with Hoskins and Bauers also seeing playing time on Tuesday.
Given the Brewers' playoff push, Hoskins' return adds experienced depth to a club with the majors' best record at 89-56, while Andrew Vaughn has hit.308 with nine homers and 41 RBIs since June 13.
