- On Thursday, Swedish prosecutors charged an 18-year-old Syrian-Swedish dual national with planning a suicide bomb attack at the Stockholm Culture Festival on behalf of the Islamic State, which drew 2 million visitors over five days in August.
- Between August 2024 and February 2025, prosecutors say the self-radicalised suspect with Islamist sympathies was tracked by investigators from the latter half of 2024, Deputy Chief Prosecutor Henrik Olin said.
- Police say an undercover agent coaxed the suspect, who reconnoitered locations, studied bomb-making, purchased bomb-making materials and a body camera to record the attack.
- The suspect was arrested in Stockholm on February 11th and remains in custody; prosecutor Carl Mellberg said `There was a clear will to commit an attack...` and he denies the charges, with trial starting on Tuesday next week.
